Amazon's annual Prime Day sale tends to overshadow most summer savings events, but the vast majority of 4th of July sales can still hold their own. The holiday typically brings some of the best year-round deals on big purchases like household appliances, mattresses, and outdoor equipment as brands and retailers start clearing out their inventories for fall. (And isn't there something so deeply American about spending money?)

Below, we've rounded up a list of the best 4th of July sales that you can peruse between stops on your cookout crawl or parade route:

4th of July tech sales

Why we like it

Live through Sunday, July 4 (or while supplies last), HP's holiday sale features huge discounts on its top-rated ENVY, Pavillion, and Spectre laptop lines, as well as its OMEN series of gaming gear. If you wind up pulling up the plug on a PC or monitor, you can also take an extra 20% off a bunch of HP, HyperX, and Poly accessories (think headsets and mice). We'll probably see some similar pricing on a lot of these products during Best Buy's Black Friday in July event, a competing Prime Day sale that tends to go harder on all things computing, but that won't happen for another week-ish and requires a paid membership for many offers.

SMEG is the fancy Italian appliance brand behind the candy heart-colored espresso machines and kettles you're always seeing on TikTok(opens in a new tab), and I cannot stress enough that it never, ever, ever, ever (you get it) runs sales — which makes its Fabulous 4th promotion a can't-miss affair. Now through July 9, you can take 25% off its retro FAB 5, FAB 10, and FAB 28 refrigerators at Crate & Barrel(opens in a new tab), Wayfair(opens in a new tab), and Williams Sonoma(opens in a new tab). (If you're still balking at their prices even with that discount, check out our guide to some dupes.)

4th of July sleep sales

Why we like it

Casper's 4th of July discount (live through July 4) applies to its entire selection of mattresses, bedding, pillows, bed frames, and accessories — yes, even their specially engineered dog bed(opens in a new tab). The Casper Original Mattress(opens in a new tab), now 20% off, is the most well-rounded bed-in-a-box you can buy based on our vetting: "Comfort, durability, natural cooling, and easy setup make [it] a great pick for a good night’s sleep, no matter what your sleeping position is." Meanwhile, its brand new Snow model with a CoolTouch Cover (perfect for summer!) is 25% off.

REI's 4th of July Sale and Clearance Event is billed(opens in a new tab) as its biggest savings event of the entire season with up to half off a slew of outdoor and camping gear, from Co-op Cycles e-bikes to backpacking stoves, ENO hammocks, Igloo coolers, Osprey hydration packs, and BioLite products. (Our favorite high-tech fire pit, the BioLite Fire+(opens in a new tab), is $75 off while the sale is live through July 4.) There are separate special offers available for REI Co-op members, too, including 40% off all store brand tents and sleeping bags and 30% off The North Face outerwear. You can purchase a lifetime membership(opens in a new tab) for just $30.

CALPAK treated all of its most popular products to steep discounts for the holiday weekend as part of a "Travel More Sale," including suitcases, backpacks, tote bags, duffels, and packing cubes in funky patterns like Groovy Blue and Orchid Fields. (The one hard-sided spinner bundle(opens in a new tab) with a carry-on, a large checked bag, three packing cubes, two pouches, and a luggage tag is kind of nuts at just $299.) It's worth checking out if you need to invest in some quality new luggage before a summer trip. Note that many items are marked as final sale.

Fable runs 20% off sales like this about once per season, and they're worth holding out for: This trendy dog gear brand's aesthetic toys and crate have earned high marks in our reviews, but they're expensive at full price. A quick PSA that the new Large size(opens in a new tab) of the crate (which doubles as a side table) is included in the promo even though it's still at the preorder stage.

Solawave's tiered 4th of July Sale brings the first discount we've seen on its new Radiant Renewal Wand(opens in a new tab), the upgraded version of its bestselling Advanced Skincare Wand (our favorite affordable skincare tool) — you'll pay $149 instead of $169. If you want to stick with the original model, you can snag it for just $89 as part of a concurrent warehouse sale(opens in a new tab).

4th of July fitness sales

Why we like it

NordicTrack's 4th of July Sale takes hundreds of dollars off some top-of-the-line treadmills, exercise bikes, ellipticals, and strength training machines that would make your local gym jealous. (Note: The sale advertises discounts of up to $700, but we spotted some as high as $1,000.) We're partial to the S72i Studio Bike(opens in a new tab) ($200 off), an updated version of the S22i, one of our favorite Peloton alternatives. We were less enthused about the Vault(opens in a new tab) smart mirror/workout station after our testing, but it's incredibly tempting at only $699 (or $800 off).
